Experience
Watch elephants cross the Chobe at golden hour
Boat, hide or game drive: where the best elephant hours happen.
By the Cawejo team
Chobe National Park is home to one of the largest elephant populations in Africa, and the river front is where you see them best. In the drier months the herds come down to the water every afternoon to drink, bathe and cross.
A boat safari in the late afternoon puts you at water level as the light turns gold. It is calm, family-friendly and wonderful for photographs. Game drives along the river road add buffalo, giraffe and the chance of lions.
For a wilder second half, many guests continue to Savuti, a drier, more remote part of the park known for predators. We arrange the transfers so the two parts of the trip join up smoothly.
